The best way to avoid needing costly repairs is regular maintenance. By changing the oil regularly, changing the fuel filter and spark plug at the proper intervals, checking the CVT belt and air filter, checking the tires and going around the scooter at least once a month and making sure that all the bolts are tight (especially the bolts holding the muffler on). Use the recommended grade of gas (usually higher than 90 octane for most Chinese scooters) and add fuel stabilizer if the scooter isn't going to be driven for a while.

At Scooters of Boise we are proud to offer excellent maintenance services at remarkable prices. Whether you require an oil change, an annual basic tuning, tire change, brake pads or a new headlamp bulb we stand ready and waiting to assist.

Some maintenance services may be performed while you wait, usually in less than an hour. While you are waiting, shop for the latest accessories, riding jackets, gloves and helmets in our retail store or just bring a book. Please call (208) 429-1465 to schedule an appointment today.

    Diagnostic: Won't Start
Your scooter won't start. There is nothing more frustrating than a scooter that won't start. There are many possible causes to a no-start problem. Our service technicians will look into your scooter and determine the cause of why it's not wanting to start. From the diagnosis they will be able to further recommend solutions to get you back on the road again.
    Oil service
Service is recommended during the first 300 miles and then every 1,000 miles thereafter. We'll change the engine oil, check lights, tire pressure and inspect brakes. Note: An Oil Filter maybe required for some models at an additional cost.
    Basic Tune Up
For the health of your scooter and preventative maintenance, our service technicians will go a little deeper into your ride by adjusting the carburetor, inspecting the intake manifold, vacuum lines and fuel lines for hardening and cracking.  We’ll check the signal switches, horn and starter switches and brake light switches.  We'll change the fuel filter, engine oil, gear oil, check lights, tire pressure, valve stems and inspect brakes.
    Complete (Spring) Tune Up
Our service technicians will take the basic service to the next level by cleaning and inspecting the carburetor, the transmission belt and roller weights.  We’ll check the charging system,

    Carburetor Clean
The carburetor is the most common problem area in all small engines. The carburetor is where the fuel mixes with the air to be burnt. When an engine sits for a long period of time without being run, the fuel will start to break down resulting in clogging up the jets  We will remove the carburetor and clean it, including the jets. We replace the fuel in your tank with fresh stabilized fuel and change the fuel filter after cleaning the carburetor otherwise you will just recreate your troubles. Sometimes cleaning doesn’t always fix the problem, then a carburetor replacement would be needed.  Additional charge for parts.
    Valve Adjustment
An oil leak under your scooter is commonly caused by the Valve Cover Gasket getting hot and wearing down, this is a wear part and needs to be replaced.  While we are there we will adjust the Valves.
Valve clearance can affect the way the engine runs and should be checked every 3000 miles. This is the clearance between the camshaft and the valve stem. If it is too large, the valve won't open all the way (and you'll get a loud "clattering" noise) and if it is too small (or non-existent), the valve may not properly close. Either way is a problem. You either won't get fuel/air into the cylinder properly or you won't get good compression and/or exhaust and the valve may overheat and suffer damage.

    Belt Service
The scooter’s engine will rev up but the scooter won’t move forward.  It’s possible that the Belt broke.  The Transmission Belt (CVT Belt) is a common wear part with the Belt life being anywhere from 7000 to 10,000 miles.   We will remove the Transmission Cover and change the Belt, Roller Weights, inspect the variator and the clutch while we are there. Additional charge for parts.
